( 02  What we do )

( Five disciplines  ·  one team )

01

Brand Strategy

We find the position a company can actually defend, then write it down in language its own people will repeat without being asked.

Research is proportionate. Enough interviews and numbers to be right, never enough to stall the work for a quarter.

DURATION  4–6 weeks      TEAM  Partner + strategist      FROM  $32k

Printed strategy document open on a desk

Pl. 01  Positioning platform, Byrd

( Deliverables )

Positioning platform
Audience and demand map
Messaging framework
Naming and tone of voice
Competitive audit
Internal launch kit

02

Visual Identity

Identity systems built to survive contact with real production: a hundred applications, several teams, no designer in the room.

We design the rules as carefully as the marks, because the rules are what the client is left holding.

DURATION  6–10 weeks      TEAM  Two designers      FROM  $48k

Printed paper samples laid out

Pl. 02  Stock tests, Northbeam

( Deliverables )

Logotype and marks
Type and colour system
Art direction
Layout grids and templates
Guidelines, first edition
Production support

03

Digital Product

Interfaces for products people use daily, where clarity beats novelty. We prototype in week two and test with actual users, not colleagues.

Handover is components engineering can build from without translating a single screen.

DURATION  8–14 weeks      TEAM  Designer + researcher      FROM  $60k

Interface wireframes drawn on a tablet

Pl. 03  Booking flow, Halcyon

( Deliverables )

Product strategy
User flows and IA
Interactive prototypes

Usability testing

04

Web Development

Fast, accessible builds on stacks the client’s own team can maintain after we leave.

Performance and accessibility budgets are agreed before a line is written, and we hold to them in review.

DURATION  6–12 weeks      TEAM  Two engineers      FROM  $40k

Keyboard and notes on a dark desk

Pl. 04  Build week, Museo Lima

( Deliverables )

Front-end build
CMS integration
E-commerce
Accessibility audit
Analytics and instrumentation
Handover and training

05

Motion & Content

The material that keeps an identity alive after launch: films, photography, editorial, and the templates a marketing team can run on their own.

Usually a retainer, because this is the part that fails when it is treated as a one-off.

DURATION  Ongoing      TEAM  Art director + crew      FROM  $9k / month

Camera and contact prints on a table

Pl. 05  Shoot selects, Verdant

( Deliverables )

Art direction
Photography
Film and edit
Motion system
Editorial design
Social templates

( 04  How a project runs )

Ten weeks, week by week.

A typical identity engagement. Longer projects stretch the middle; nothing gets added to either end.

Week 01

Kickoff

On site with your team. We agree the measure of success and who says yes.

Week 02

Evidence

Interviews, numbers, audit. Enough to be right, then we stop looking.

Weeks 03–04

Frame

One page: the problem, the position, the measure. Everything later answers to it.

Weeks 05–08

Make

Weekly review, real material. One direction, argued, not three to choose between.

Weeks 09–10

Land

Guidelines, templates and a working session with the people who will use them.

Day 90

Review

We read the numbers out loud and fix what they say to fix. Included in the fee.

You will see work every week from week three. If a Wednesday passes with nothing to show, something has gone wrong and we will say so.

( 05  Before you write )

( Eight questions  ·  asked most often )

The answers we give
on every first call.

Do you pitch?

No speculative work. We will talk through approach, references and a scoped proposal for free, and that is where it ends.

How do we start?

A forty-minute call, then a written proposal within a week. If it fits, we hold a slot for fourteen days.

What do you need from us?

One decision-maker in the weekly review, and access to your numbers. Everything else we can find ourselves.

Can you work with our in-house team?

Often. We can lead, support, or hand over gradually. Say which at kickoff rather than in month two.

Who actually does the work?

The people you meet. A partner and a lead on every engagement, and no more than three others.

What happens if scope changes?

We re-scope in writing before continuing. No silent change orders at the end of the project.

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes, mutual and standard. We will ask to show the work publicly after launch, and you can say no.

Who owns the work?

You do, on final payment. Source files, fonts licensed in your name, and the repository under your account.

Let's make
something
